NFL Playoffs: The Division Round

I admit that last week even though I didn’t post it I went 0-4 on Wild Card Weekend.  So hopefully I can turn this around.

AFC Games

Ravens @ Colts:  This game could go either way.  There are three keys to this game: 1) Will the Ravens come out like they did vs the Patriots last week, getting tons of pressure on Tom Brady and having the big 82 rushing yard TD from Ray Rice on the first play of the game.  2) The Ravens offense has to show up.  They could have beat the Colts earlier in the year, but they scored ZERO TDs and made five field goals.  3) After their rest, can the Colts offense get back on track early in the game?  If they don’t get in a groove early, the Ravens can squeak this one out. MY PICK: I’m going to say Ravens win this in a close one by getting pressure on Peyton Manning like they did Tom Brady.  Plus, I like the Ravens on the road.

Jets @ Chargers:  This game will be the most lopsided game of the week.  Even though the Jets have the #1 defense in the league, they have no one to cover Antonio Gates.  I also don’t like having a rookie Quarterback in Mark Sánchez going to San Diego against a team that thinks this is their year.  MY PICK: San Diego in a blow out.

NFC Games

Cardinals vs Saints:  This game is expected to be a shootout and very well should be.  Two very good offenses who like to throw the ball will mean a lot of points will be scored.  The Saints are limping into the playoffs finishing the season losing three straight, while the Cards are coming off the highest score game in NFL Playoff history.  MY PICK:  I’m picking the Cards in this game.  The Cards seems like they are still being disrespected after going to the Super Bowl last year and it seems they want to prove they are not a one trick pony.  Plus, you should never pick against Kurt Warner in a shootout type game.

Cowboys vs Vikings: This is probably the most anticipated game of the week with the Cowboys rolling into a building where the Vikings have not lost all year.  This game can go either way.  Both teams have balanced offenses and both defenses get pressure on the opposing quarterback, so it seems like whoever will win this game will either win the turnover battle or have the better special teams.  MY PICK: Vikings just edge out the Cowboys playing in front of their home crowd with Percy Harvin being the X-factor for the Vikes.
